For insect bites, periodical complaints, eye and nerve pains
CEDRON (Rattlesnake Bean)
Common Name: Cedron
Cedron is a remedy with marked effects on pain around the eyes, particularly shooting pain over the left eye. The pain radiates into the eye and around the eye, extending into the nose. Periodic supraorbital neuralgia with burning tears from the eyes is also characteristic. The recurrence of symptoms follows a clock-like periodicity.
Cedron is especially effective in tropical, damp, and marshy regions and has been found useful in the treatment of malarial affections, particularly neuralgia. It is most beneficial for individuals with a voluptuous disposition and an excitable, nervous temperament. Additionally, Cedron can serve as an antidote for snake bites and insect stings. A tincture of the pure bean can be applied directly to the wound.
Cedron is also indicated for intermittent fever, where there is a marked recurrence of fever and chills at set times, often with mental excitement before the chill, followed by coldness and thirst during the chill, and a heat stage that is succeeded by profuse perspiration.
